Javier Arevalo

Javier Arévalo is a lawyer from the University of Chile, with a distinguished career in criminal law, particularly in criminal litigation and the preparation of legal reports in criminal, economic criminal, and administrative matters. He has extensive experience advising both individuals and companies, especially in corporate matters.
Throughout his career, he has practiced as a litigation attorney in various law firms, taking part in the design of defense strategies, handling complex cases, and preparing legal opinions. He also founded and led his own law firm, combining criminal practice with corporate advisory work.
He has been involved in high-profile and complex cases, including extradition proceedings, economic crimes, and criminal litigation of public significance, representing both private clients and public institutions.
In the academic field, he has developed an extensive career as a professor of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile, where he has taught undergraduate and specialized courses and supervised thesis work. He was awarded Best Professor of the Faculty in 2016 and has participated as a speaker in national and international forums, including processes related to the reform of the Chilean Criminal Code.
He has also held academic leadership roles, contributing to the creation and development of the Faculty of Law at Universidad Alberto Hurtado, and has trained professionals through teaching engagements with public institutions such as the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Public Defender’s Office.
He complements his professional career with active involvement in social and educational initiatives, serving on the boards of foundations dedicated to education and community support.
